How to Choose the Right Bulbs for Your Space

Light can have a huge impact on your mood. If you are reading, you want something bright and warm to see the words. If you are relaxing, you want something softer and more subtle.  If you are working or cooking then you need adequate light to get the job done.  We don’t realize just how important our light fixtures are until we are shopping for new ones.  Here are some tips on how to choose the right bulbs for your space.

Understanding The Importance of Lights in Home Decoration

The light bulb type is the most important factor to consider when buying lights for your home. There are different types of bulbs with different benefits. The color temperature is the temperature in kelvin (K) of the light given off by a lamp or fluorescent tube. The higher the number, the cooler the light will appear and vice versa.

There are many options for lights in your household now that technology has advanced so much. The typical incandescent light bulb is now being replaced by LED light bulbs, or better known as LEDs.  These new LED lights use less electricity, last longer periods of time without using replacement bulbs, and emit very little heat compared to typical incandescent lights – this makes them perfect for any room in the house!

Different Types of Light Bulbs and their Uses

When it comes to light bulbs, there are many different types to choose from. This includes LED lights, CFL lights, and multiple other options. LED lights offer high-quality lighting that helps conserve energy and maintain a low cost per year. They also have a longer lifespan than most other lighting options. CFLs are an excellent alternative to LED lights because they have a much lower cost per year and come in many different variations including warm white or cool white colors.

Here is a look at the difference between different types of light bulbs.

Choosing The Right Light Bulb For Your Space

Choosing the right light bulb for your space is not one-size-fits-all. For example, if you’ve got two lamps on opposite sides of your living room, you’ll want to opt for different wattage bulbs in order to get an even distribution of light.

  • Wattage

The most important factor to consider when choosing a bulb is wattage (or brightness). Wattage is measured in watts; the higher the number, the brighter it will be. A typical 100 watt incandescent bulb may be too bright for a small bedroom but perfect for a large family room or kitchen

  • Lumens

Lumens are another way to measure brightness. When comparing light bulbs, it’s helpful to convert watts into lumens so you can compare them on an even scale.

Out of all of the different types of light bulbs that you can’t choose LED bulbs may be your best bet.  They are the most versatile in terms of brightness, they last the longest and use the least amount of energy.  They do cost a little more than traditional bulbs but it is worth it in the long run.
